Adventure DANUBE (10): In the Bulgarian Balkan Mountains (“Balkans” actually already means “Mountains”) from the Danube port VIDIN to BELOGRADZHIK. High above the city with a mosque – but no church tower has a bizarre rock formation rising up into the sky. The almost impregnable fortress KALETO ducks into it (built in the 1st – 3rd century). So we put on our hiking boots and climbed into the rocky sight, and then we glide further up the river past SERBIA.
