“I Found My Home on the Ocean”

– Judith, 72, Retired School Principal

I spent most of my adult life in the same house, teaching at the same school, shopping at the same grocery store. When I retired, I thought I’d buy a little condo near the beach. Instead, I ended up living on the ocean—literally.

I joined a residential ship that travels the globe. I have a cabin that’s mine year-round. My days are full of lectures, yoga on the upper deck, and dinners with people who’ve become my floating family. I’ve watched the sun rise over the Greek Isles, learned to salsa in Havana, and even published a travel blog.

Is it perfect? No. I miss my grandkids. I sometimes crave silence or fresh laundry. But I’ve never felt so alive. Every day is different, and I never have to mow the lawn.

Quote: “Some people retire and sit still. I retired and set sail.”
