Sip into Summer: 6 Refreshing Drinks to Beat the Heat

1. Mojito

Ingredients:

  • 10 fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 lime, cut into 4 wedges
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1 1/2 ounces white rum
  • 1/2 cup soda water

Instructions:

  1. Muddle the mint leaves and 1 lime wedge in a glass.
  2. Add 2 more lime wedges and the sugar, and muddle again.
  3. Fill the glass with ice, pour the rum over the ice, and fill the glass with soda water.
  4. Stir, taste, and add more sugar if desired. Garnish with the remaining lime wedge.

2. Frozen Margarita

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces tequila
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • 1 ounce triple sec
  • 1 cup ice
  • Lime wedge and salt for rimming (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Blend the tequila, lime juice, triple sec, and ice until smooth.
  2. If desired, rim the glass with lime and salt.
  3. Pour the mixture into the glass and garnish with a lime wedge.

3. Pina Colada

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces white rum
  • 1 ounce coconut cream
  • 1 ounce heavy cream
  • 6 ounces fresh pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup crushed ice

Instructions:

  1. Blend the rum, coconut cream, heavy cream, pineapple juice, and crushed ice until smooth.
  2. Pour into a chilled glass and garnish with a pineapple slice and maraschino cherry.

4. Iced Tea Lemonade

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups brewed iced tea
  • 2 cups lemonade
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon slices for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Combine the iced tea and lemonade in a pitcher.
  2. Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices.

5. Watermelon Slush

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups seedless watermelon, cubed
  • 1/2 cup lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons honey (or to taste)
  • 1 cup ice

Instructions:

  1. Blend the watermelon, lime juice, honey, and ice until smooth.
  2. Pour into a glass and serve immediately.

6. Berry Sangria

Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle red wine
  • 1/4 cup brandy
  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 lime, sliced
  • 1 cup mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • 1 cup soda water

Instructions:

  1. In a pitcher, combine the wine, brandy, orange liqueur, and sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Add the sliced fruit and berries. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  3. Add soda water before serving.
