Sip into Summer: 6 Refreshing Drinks to Beat the Heat
1. Mojito
Ingredients:
- 10 fresh mint leaves
- 1/2 lime, cut into 4 wedges
- 2 tablespoons white sugar
- 1 cup ice cubes
- 1 1/2 ounces white rum
- 1/2 cup soda water
Instructions:
- Muddle the mint leaves and 1 lime wedge in a glass.
- Add 2 more lime wedges and the sugar, and muddle again.
- Fill the glass with ice, pour the rum over the ice, and fill the glass with soda water.
- Stir, taste, and add more sugar if desired. Garnish with the remaining lime wedge.
2. Frozen Margarita
Ingredients:
- 2 ounces tequila
- 1 ounce lime juice
- 1 ounce triple sec
- 1 cup ice
- Lime wedge and salt for rimming (optional)
Instructions:
- Blend the tequila, lime juice, triple sec, and ice until smooth.
- If desired, rim the glass with lime and salt.
- Pour the mixture into the glass and garnish with a lime wedge.
3. Pina Colada
Ingredients:
- 2 ounces white rum
- 1 ounce coconut cream
- 1 ounce heavy cream
- 6 ounces fresh pineapple juice
- 1/2 cup crushed ice
Instructions:
- Blend the rum, coconut cream, heavy cream, pineapple juice, and crushed ice until smooth.
- Pour into a chilled glass and garnish with a pineapple slice and maraschino cherry.
4. Iced Tea Lemonade
Ingredients:
- 2 cups brewed iced tea
- 2 cups lemonade
- Ice cubes
- Lemon slices for garnish
Instructions:
- Combine the iced tea and lemonade in a pitcher.
- Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices.
5. Watermelon Slush
Ingredients:
- 3 cups seedless watermelon, cubed
- 1/2 cup lime juice
- 2 tablespoons honey (or to taste)
- 1 cup ice
Instructions:
- Blend the watermelon, lime juice, honey, and ice until smooth.
- Pour into a glass and serve immediately.
6. Berry Sangria
Ingredients:
- 1 bottle red wine
- 1/4 cup brandy
- 1/4 cup orange liqueur
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 orange, sliced
- 1 lemon, sliced
- 1 lime, sliced
- 1 cup mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
- 1 cup soda water
Instructions:
- In a pitcher, combine the wine, brandy, orange liqueur, and sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
- Add the sliced fruit and berries. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Add soda water before serving.
