Survival

“I Took the Job I Could Get”

When my husband got sick, I took the first job I could find—cleaning offices at night. It wasn’t glamorous. It wasn’t what I studied for. But it paid the bills. And for two years, it kept us afloat.

Sometimes I’d cry in the supply closet. But I also met people—security guards, janitors, delivery drivers—who showed me grace, humor, and resilience. We were all just trying to survive. I was never ashamed. I was proud. Because survival is powerful.

Advice: Survival is not failure. It’s strength in its rawest form.

Quote: “Sometimes surviving is the bravest thing you’ll do all day.” – N. R. Walker
